So here is some pictures of what I did tonight. Still alot of work but started setting up the new gears for my reverse shaft it all fits together pretty snug, might need a little clearancing but definetly will work, also started the weight reduction process on one of the pillow blocks will see alot more of this on various parts, the bike can afford to lose a few pounds! Me and my buddy decided to run the gears exposed for now and just see how they wear in, if there is a problem with wear we will attempt to seal it up. it wouldnt be to hard if the shafts were not fully keyed and we could find the right seals. next on the list is welding up the frame and building the front end.

thats alot of motor and rpm's too for them small gears to just spin out in the open. you may have to incase them some how:shrug:
your project still looks fun to do.....

I would weld up a box, use 4 X 1 3/8 OD snapringer 5/8 id bearings, put the snaps on the inside with collars.Make a bolt down lid and fill the gearbox with a 85/140 axle lube chassis grease combo (so it just barely runs) (use your mommas eggbeater to mix:thumbsup::laugh::eek:). Running the gearbox open and dry is gonna spell trouble....

What about axle seals for a small rear drive car. Or maybe camshaft or crankshaft seals. You would have to fill the key ways in. I thinly a welded box with fill and drain plugs would be the easiest. Too bad you couldn't make it like a quick change rear end. So you could change the ratio on the fly.

Wow! You guys are doing a great job on your build:grind::weld:. I had a question about your back tire. I want to go with a ribbed tire myself but there are round and flat tires. Is yours a flat or round one ?because it looks somewhere in the middle to me. If its possible to share measurements that would be helpful. Thanks for any help and good luck on your build...:thumbsup:

Can I just vote now. You win! Should us others even bother with our builds or should we just sit back and watch this one? If this works you just opened a can of worms for alot of mini bike guys. WOW and AWESOME is all i can say.

these back tires are great on the bikes this one is on the narrower mock up rim which is 6x4 but even on the wider 6x6 it is still rounded and turns great on the bikes good for the street. you can get them from bmikarts.com

great ideas for oiling, auto oilers and drip systems im sure ill be dreaming tonight! thanks for all the support on this build!! .. ive been thinking about encasing the entire system and grinding to holes with press fit seals where the shafts come out and welding up the keyway areas im just picky i dont want it to leak a drop.

check back tomorrow evening we will be putting in alot of work hopefully!
