"I'll be watching this one." :pimp: Let me know if that comment has already been taken in this thread. I'm only sucking up just in case you have any influence over the judges. I hope you come in second. Behind me.

Thanks again for running this thing. Unprecedented participation!! (and good luck)

Keep watching Dave and you might make it to first on your build.

All joking aside, I just like building these bikes and it keeps me out of trouble.

Don't matter if I come in first or last, but as Ricky Bobby's dad says," if you ain't first, your last"!

Thanks for the kind words from me and my second place bike,

Pat

Oh, don't mind me. A build off competition has nothing to do with ego. It's comical really, watching the social mores stretched to the limit. From your previous projects, I am positive you will create yet another masterpiece.

Just got done sending an email to my local powder coating specialist for a quote. Let's see how long it takes him to get back with me.

Busy weekend so far, but I did manage to take apart the rear brake caliper and clean it up. Here is one of the pieces that I zinc plated at home. This is the first time doing this at home and it was extremely easy and the results are amazing.

I will get more pics posted later.

Oh yea, it's been too cold outside to do any work in the garage, so everything for this build is in my basement sitting on the kitchen table down there. The missus isn't particularly happy about that, but hey, it's for a good cause! Lol

Man, that turned out nice.
Secrets?
In a nut shell this is what I did.

Half gallon of white vinegar with a cup of sugar and a cup of kosher salt dissolved.

Went on ebay and for 8 bucks shipped I got some zinc bullions.

Connected the zinc with copper wire and hung them over the side of the small bucket of vinegar solution on the outside edges.

Hang the part to be plated in the middle

Used an old cell phone charger and hooked the negative to the part and the positive to the zinc.

15 minutes later, use a wire brush on the part and do it a second time.

That's it!

Now prepping the part is the most important part. Needs to be clean of grease, oil, rust, etc. Sandpaper, file, sandblast.
