Throttle cable trouble

On the bars?... If you stripped it... I would drill off the head of the screw that holds it on then when you get it off,wd40/pbBlaster and vice grips to remove the rest of the screw.. Then take the piece to the hardware store and get new screws.

Yup, broke. If you can't get the screws to budge then drill the heads out, then it'll come apart. You will have the remains of the screws sticking out, then use vice grips to remove them.

The screws look metric. This going to sound silly, BUT...use an ISO screwdriver, these screws look like phillips, but due to the little punch mark on the head I see that they are ISO metric. Use a plenty big quality screwdriver that really fits., best if you get the real McCoy...Google ISO screwdrivers. The dime store varity just barely work and will "cam out" before you can get any real torque on the screw. Seems strange, but there really is a special screwdriver for these.

Look here:

Screwdrivers | Hand Tools | VESSEL TOOLS

If you work on Japanese motorcycles these are a must have....

are we talking about the screw on the kill switch ? If so it has 2 , remove the other one and just bend the mounting bracket out of the way !

I thought it was the throttle housing, but the screws on the kill switch do look pretty bugered. I wouldn't think you'd need to remove the kill switch to remove the throttle grip housing.

Yea , I'm confused too , lol ??
:doah: He broke the throttle cable at the twist grip :doah: Like said before just drill out the screw heads and take the remainder out with vise grips  They will probably be metric machine screws, I would replace them with allen head screws, that should solve future problems

In all my dealings with motorcycles it's possible to solder a new barrel on the end of the cable, but this repair has proven to be not very effective. Just give OldMiniBikes Warehouse a call and get a new one, they won't break the bank. Then hook it up, power it up and ride on!
