Tightening Nut on Billet Flywheel

The torque spec on the nut is 54 foot pounds. I'm curious to know what different methods have been used to prevent the flywheel from turning while using a torque wrench.

agreed. If you fast forward this video to about 0:40seconds, you will see what he's talking about. As he says in the video, make sure the piston is NOT at top dead center, so it has plenty of room to compress the rope and stop movement of the crank

i always used an impact, just got to be really careful.

I had my brother hold the flywheel still with one of these..

..while I torqued the nut. :smile:

That is an interesting variety of methods. I did it by mounting a pulley hub that had the same bore and keyway on the engine shaft. Then I clamped a large vise grips on the pulley hub, wrapped a shop rag around the handles, and laid it up against the bike frame so it couldn't turn. (The engine was still in the bike.) It worked great.

Yep, that is what I use, Impact to 70+ pounds
I never TQ stock to stock spec's, that is for stock motors.
