Fords Are Way Better Than Chevys

This came back! My buddys 99 GMC sonoma with the 4.3 blew up yesterday at school. Now he wants a ranger!!:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Yeah yeah yeah... They also get their ECM out of whack and the computer goes crazy, and they lose %90 of their horse power because their feelings are hurt.. Out of closet To the point they won't pull in overdrive and ya gotta stay in 3'rd, OR do 93 miles per hour down the highway..

But then again, when they are new and know whats going on, they will burn 4x4 quadratraction marks onto dry asphalt.. Not to mention beat the living fck out of them for 245,000 miles before anything really major goes wrong.. Yup.. You are guaranteed to need a heater blower stwitch.. I KNOW this bastard isn't holding 245 pounds of oil pressure idling.. Willing to bet thats broke.. :glare:

BUT... it beats the torque convertor blown out in my Ranger.. OR the whole entire underside of the truck rusts away and your rear axle falls out...

Never seen a 1977 Ford 4X4 big bad truck, with three axles, because one rear axle clip broke and the entire 3 foot long section of axles rolls away with your tire???

I've NEVER seen a 77 Dodge with Dana Axles do that..

But then again.. Buy a 91 Dodge with a 360 automatic and WATCH how many trannys you can buy in one year.. Too bad ya didn't stick with a 727 Torqueflite..

Bottom line.. Thinking one particular brand is in every way better than any other is just ignorant... They all have their faults and places where they shine.. Ya take the good with the bad..

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the truck
All the fluids were frozen, the injectors were stuck,

The glow plugs were chilled and the turbo stone-cold,
This weather was frightful if I may be so bold,

The snowdrift was piled sky-high on the hood,
As I tossed to the fire a fresh load of wood,

My good wife and I settled in for some rest
But 'twas not long-lived, yet perhaps for the best

"What's that!" I declared with a roar
And no sooner than said came a knock at the door,

I arose from my chair soon to be slumber's bed
And there on the porch was the Big Man in red!

"I'm stuck" spoke he, "can you give me a pull?"
I said I may be stupid but I ain't no fool

So I rushed to the truck as I buttoned my flap
I opened the door and threw out my strap

One move and the key was set firm without strife
With one quick turn that mighty Ford Diesel came roaring to life!

The rattle and roar of that powerful eight
The hot blast of smoke shaking the frozen fruit cake

The reindeer were nervous and in awe of such might
But they knew that Ford Diesel would be saving their night

I eased in the clutch and I dropped her in gear
The T-case in low as I backed her in near

One end to the hitch and the other to sleigh
The tow strap was set as the snow wiped away

He cried out "I'm not sure, cause that old sleigh is heavy
but I trust you, cause I see you're not driving a Chevy"

I gave her some fuel and four tires did spin
Then they grabbed with the strength of the truck I was in

Ol' Ford started smoking and pulling so hard
That I ended up halfway 'cross my neighbor's yard

As I backed off the fuel and gave a proud shout
He declared that "No Dodge could have pulled that sleigh out!"

He thanked me profusely and the reindeer did bow
To the Mighty Ford Diesel, which was idling now

For they knew in their hearts that without this fueled might
That there would be no Christmas this shivering night

He climbed in his seat and with a wave of his hand
Those reindeer lurched forward across the snowed land

"I thank you again my dear newly-found friend
For your hand and your heart kept this night from its end

And later this eve, warm and snug in my lodge
I'll be thanking the Lord, that you did not buy a Dodge!"

I am a ford guy, and yes I frequently poke fun at chevy, but not dodge. Back in the '70's Dodge musclecars could kick the :censure: out of any other muscle car on the road. Even tho I find that dodge trucks rattle like an old farm truck even if they aren't very old.

They both are terrible.

The only Chevy car that's worth a damn: C5 and up Corvette.

The only Ford car worth a damn: 03-04 Terminator.

For daily commute, my Honda's ftw.

My wife's 06 Civic is a piece of crap. It eats wheel bearings, brakes, and ball joints for breakfast. My 99 Ranger has been maintenance free for 200,000 miles not counting regular maintenance like water pumps and timing belts every 60-80k. Hell, the stock clutch is still in it. I poke fun at all my chevy driving friends but I'd drive one before I bought a car owned by a foreign manufacturer. Yeah, I know they build them here now but I still wouldn't buy one.

My wife had the car when I married her. She'll be driving a new 5.0 in the next year or two.

Uh, first: if that's true, then you're an exception. I've owned 10 Honda's, two of which were considerably modified toys that I beat the living hell out of. In all of those cars, one part has failed: a coil @ 23x,000 miles on a 93 Civic EX.

Secondly, who cares where the parent company resides? My car was built in Ohio. My last Civic was also built in the states, and is now over 190K miles with one part having gone bad: an sensor for one of the seat belts. Lifetime warranty there, so twas free.

I'll give credit to the dumbestics and their turbo diesels though. Total beasts. My grandfather gave me a 95 GMC dually. It's an eyesore but runs like a champ.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I've never, in all my years of being in the car scene, ever heard of any one car eating wheel bearings and ball joints in any Honda, even 400+ WHP track whores.

Not one manufacture make any car or truck worth a damn in whole, each one makes parts that are better than the others.
One will have a great engine and the rest of it will suck,One will have a great body the transmission will trash itself and so on...
If you want the perfect vehicle that works for you, you gotta build it yourself.

I guess that is where hot rodding comes in. :grind:

As weird as this sounds. Especially coming from me.... a tried and true... bleed ford blue guy. The best car Ive ever owned was a 1987 mazda 626. You just cant hurt that car. Most people put them to bed because they had 200,000 miles on them and no one would buy it from them for any money at all because they thought all cars with that many miles were done.

Are you sure of that? Dodge was not the quickest one in the muscle car era. And Ford was the slowest.

Back in the 70's is was GM all the way here in Houston,I never got beat by anything other than Chevy. Now when the Fox cars came out they gave us a run for our money but only the built ones. At that time I had a 70 monty Carlo with a 408 sb,then a 72 ss Chevelle bb.then a 73 710 datsun pu with a L82 with twin 660 holley's.
Ah the goods old days...fun times!

Well... Maybe right off the showroom floor(or in magazines)! But at the street races?
There will be an occasional argument from a MoPar guy but the LS-6 cleaned the plow of anything Dodge ever built. Ford never was in the running and knowledgeable Blue Oval dudes [that were there] don't even raise their voice.

^^LS 6? Whats that?

Jus want to throw this in, Lil Red Express Truck, put a brand new Vette of the same year to shame. I t went up against a Porsche and something else, beat one of those 2 aswell. I thought that was pretty interesting.

Ill try an find the specifics, its in a truck magazine my dad gets.

This is the way I see it, I dont care how much faster your car/truck goes, I dont care how much more HP/torque your car/truck has, dont care how much quicker, dont care about the better MPG. Dont care how much better it is...

Whatever I have is still better. Why? Cause its mine! All Mine!
My precious....

An 86 Chevy Cavalier with 425 actual miles is no good? 91 Cutlass with a 3800 with 700 miles is junk?? You mean to tell me a 91 Escort 5 speed is no good? Not even a 91 Escort GT that is a Mazda DOHC with a 5 speed sucks too? :doah:

I coulda swore I've seen hundreds of them beaten like a red headed step child for 345,000 miles and still is the best car ya ever owned...

I kinda thought my 200 dollar 93 GT RACER that ran like a top with 283,000 miles on it, and has hauled 900 dollars worth of scrap metal like it was a pickup truck was doing good.. :doah: I was happy to heul a twin cylinder briggs 50 inch cut hydro rear end, riding mower, IN the back of my hatchback, hanging 3/4 outside the car, ripping the tires off at stop lights, was somewhat impressive..

And here I am gettin schooled by a 17 year old with a Rice Tuner..

Well Ford's F150 just won truck of the year for the 4th year in a row. Being a chevy guy myself there has to be something to be said good about the F150's. We own an F350 dually and like it. Own a Chevy tahoe and like that to. This is one of those "potato, patato" things. Ford vs. Chevy is a never ending debate that there is no right answer to. personal opinions dont always equate to the right answer. Ford is winning truck of the year and everyone else isnt.

In 1970 and only in 1970 Chevrolet offered their across-the-counter only racing engine, the LS-6, in a Chevelle and only in a Chevelle. Eleven plus comp. ratio, 454ci, automatic cowl induction, claimed 450 HP but the knowledgeable knew that GM was using a phony low number so that the anti car people at that time would not get even more upset. If you checked the LS-6 box when ordering at your local dealer you were informed that it would come without air conditioning. This was to keep the uninformed from thinking it was a good car for fat old ladies to take to the Safeway. A special gear box called a M-22 was used which had the helical angle reduced on the gears so it would take the torque. There were only about 4000 produced.

Neck

Growing up is optional
So....Ford and Mopar didn't do something similar in 1970? SCJ 428s 440 six pacs? Boss 429s, Hemi Cudas and Challengers? Were these cars considered, slow?

ls6 c'mon be serious now that was after it was over.
ever heard of a hemi from mopar or a ford thunderbolt 427 sideoiler only had 485 hp and the 427 sohc made 616 hp with a single 4bbl and 657 with 2-4bbls

scroll to the bottom of the page an read it.
theres a lot of talk how it was built to do battle with the mopar 426 hemi but i didnt notice chevy even mentioned.

Ford FE engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
