lots of people run disk brakes on here. if you are planning on doing 60 or 70 i would strongly suggest hydrolic disk brakes preferably ones for a racing kart. these will stop you very well although they are pretty expensive they are worth every penny.

but if you do not want to spend much money the manual disk brakes are fine. like the ones on the db30. the hydrolic ones are just much safer.

Why would hydraulic brakes be safer? Looks to me that they'd be more prone to malfuntion than simple mechanical linkage.

when you do it right you will not have any problems at all. but the mechanical ones i have seen the wire break on before the for you wont have any brakes.

With all the talk ( And that includes boasting and out and out fabrication of the truth ) about mini bikers wanting to go 60 MPH why not Hydraulic disc ?
Look at the job small wheels means small disc and add to that the cable actuation and linkage strech and how much you can expect a manual lever to exert.
I would use MCP go kart brakes and they have lots of different types .

The Hot Rod Mini hydraulic brake is awesome , if mechanical brakes were so good , why have they not been put on motorcycles or cars for decades ?

Google 50cc 70cc 125cc hydraulic disc brake and you will see there is a generic caliper that is really inexpensive. I bought one + an atv caliper and it works great for my rear brake. Most legit bikes run hydraulic disc brakes. Check out my build if you want to see pics on how it's mounted etc.
