@hermans13 , I am pretty sure I will be using the 3.5 horse engine that I got from you. The compression tested better than the rest, the muffler is tucked in closer to the cylinder and the side cover is cast iron, not aluminum. The reason it's not on there yet is because it has a weird governor linkage, and I am hesitant to remove or modify it, as some snow blower guys might want that linkage.
Only one of these old Jakes has spark right now. That will be a project for cooler weather. If I pull one flywheel, I'll pull them all and replace whatever needs to be replaced.
You both are making amazing progress that’s a phenomenal looking bike! I’m definitely thinking your not far off on thinking that tank should feed a 3.5 for most of the day.

I feel the need to justify the pile of old 2 stroke engines growing it the barn and the garage. I can bolt any of them to this frame, connect a chain to the TC jackshaft and ride. I'm calling it a test mule.;)

Now that the temp has cooled a little bit, we need to do something about the front wheel. First point to remember: I do not want to replace the steering neck tube for obvious reasons. It is also longer than most vintage tubes, so a used Ebay fork won't work without some surgery. I could cut the tube a little bit, but there are shoulders cut inside for the nylon bushings. I could just put a 5/8 ID bushing (pipe) inside the neck tube, but I think we found a solution. The universal suspension fork for the small Chinese bikes will have the correct width for the CT100 wheel, but the legs are too short for this application. If we just bolt it on, the lower mount will be very close to the rubber seal, and we won't have any suspension because it's already bottomed out.
Here's our solution: Drill the center holes from 12mm to 5/8 and mount them to the frame. Install the fork legs to the axle and the lower mount. Set the frame at the correct ride height, check trail, and make a spacer to bolt into the space between the top of the fork leg and the top mount.
The threaded holes are already there. So, for $99, we can have custom suspension with the Chinese wheel and tire.

We have been overthinking this.

Now that we have the fork figured out, we move onto the next phase.
Do we need fenders? What should they look like?
We DO need a seat. What should it look like?
I think it needs high metal fenders that do not move with the tires. (frame mounted) because it's easier to mount them and keep them mounted.
Mounting them low, near the tires might keep everything cleaner, but...who cares? It's a dirt cruiser.

We got our fork, too. I took pictures to show the problem with the long neck tube. Note NO suspension! IMG_20240807_114511.jpg IMG_20240807_114454.jpg
Took some measurements and did some cutting and grinding.

That frame now has 4.5 inches of trail, which I can adjust down from there.
It has 7.5 inches ground clearance, 35 inch wheelbase and the frame is 22.5 inches tall.
CT100U is 4 inches to ground, 34 inch wheel base, and frame is about 21.5 tall.
This one is heavier, though.

I also got all four of my old Jacobsen engines sparking. I am moving parts around to make two as nearly identical as possible.
The other two will be for this bike. One is a documented 3.5 horse Jacobsen High Torque from a snow blower. I removed the governor this morning, along with all of the linkage and the original carb. IMG_20240807_114811.jpg Then, after verifying that it still makes sparks, I installed an antique saw carb. IMG_20240807_114833.jpg Then I verified that I have room for this NOS

Remember I said I can adjust the trail down from 4,5 inches? I might cut these and weld them to the upper and lower fork brackets, so I have two sets of 5/8 holes to mount the fork to the frame. That will change the wheelbase by about an inch (or whatever dimension I cut them to...) and by keeping the rake angle the same, I can change the trail by about an inch. I cannot do any of that yet, because my Chief Engineer needs to OK it, and he has posolutely zero idea what I'm talking about. IMG_20240426_092341.jpg

My seat is out for delivery today! YAAAYY! It only took 13 days to fly from San Diego to the east coast.
I believe it only takes one day to fly from here to the west coast, but it is what it is.
Pictures as soon as I can get them. I will no longer buy from sellers on the west coast.(ebay)
I will ALWAYS specify a shipper other than Useless Piece of Spit.
