Predator 212cc break in OOPS!!! HELP

#1
Hey guys,
I drained all of the factory filled oil from the crankcase of this new hemi 212, filled with 10w30 and ran it for a few minutes to warm it up. Then my Hot Rod neighbor (who is jealous that my minibike spanks his minitrail) came over and wanted to try it out and as he went past the house he was running full throttle and doing wheelies. I was a little pissed because I know the break in period hasn't been reached and I don't know if everything was seated yet. Now maybe it is just my OCD kicking in, but I swear I heard a slight knock last night in the engine. It only seems to be happening when you first get on the throttle at take off under the biggest load, and as the speed increases the engine is as smooth as glass at full throttle and at idle. I then raised the rear wheel and ran it and it from idle to full and there was no noise at all other than all of those little Chinese ponies trying to get loose. Should I be worried about this thing, or is it just normal Chinese noise, the clutch making a racket, or what? Seems to me that if there was a knock at all it would get worse and louder as the revs increase whether the rear tire is under a load or not. Thank you for suffering me here!

No need to worry....are there meds for OCD? (besides more beer?) If it was rod knock, it would get worse with more RPM's. Don't worry!

Drive it like ya stole it!

If it drives you crazy and is less than 30 days take it back to harbor frieght and swap it out for a brand new one unless you bought the extended warranty and then ride it till it rattles then take it back and swap it for a new one.

Nothing at all. Governor and everything is just as it was out of the box. The only thing I did was back the idle screw down because the clutch was trying to engage due to the idle being high. Thats all.

You should be breaking it in like your neighbor was riding it anyway.
Yep. Break it in the way you're going to drive it.

My stock warrior rattles like the Tin Man coughing up a hoagie full of wood screws, on initial take-off.

It could also be spark knock due to lean fuel condition.
Replacing main jet and emulsion tube to give it more go juice may or may not be needed.
The fact that it does it when loaded but not when freewheeling is often a symptom of that.
Case in point, my '96 Mustang GT calls for 87 octane.
In the summer, it will spark knock like crazy on hard acceleration with 87 octane.
Revving in neutral does not cause it to happen.
Running it on 93 octane keeps it from happening.

True, mine is due to octane and temperature. Yours could too.

However, my '78 F100 has the 300ci inline six.
It spark knocks under load in hot weather and also runs hot at freeway speeds in hot weather.
The stock single barrel carb and intake cause cyls 3 & 4 get a correct fuel mixture, 2 & 5 run leaner, and 1 & 6 run leaner still.
The fix for that is either multi carbs or a 4 barrel and a true dual plane intake.
